Fallasburg Park Wedding in Lowell, MI | Cassandra and Shawn
I had the pleasure of photogrpahing Cassy and Shawn’s wedding on a summer day at Fallasburg Park in Lowell, Michigan. The park is situated on the Flat River which provided a beautiful backdrop to the ceremony.
I loved the way these two look at and interact with each other. They were smiling and laughing together constantly throughout the day.Chuck Taylor’s were the footwear of choice for the wedding party.
The reception was held inside the park’s enclosed shelter, which presents some challenges photographically speaking, but some well-placed lighting was just the trick to transform it into a perfect stage for some epic first dance photos.
After the main reception events were over we snuck out of the reception for a few minutes to do a few more bride and groom portraits outside. I always recommend that my couples schedule some time into the day to do this, for a couple of reasons. First, the light changes later in the day and by going out at that time we can get a whole different look than what is possible earlier during the main portrait time. Second, it’s a nice break for the bride and groom from all the excitement and gives them a chance to relax and spend a few minutes together out of the spotlight. My clients have often mention afterwards how it was the only “alone time” they got all day and how much they appreciated it.
After that quick round of outdoor portraits I had one last idea for an image that I knew would turn out great if I took a minute or two to do it properly. I asked Shawn and Cassy if they were up for one more awesome photo, and they said yes. I set up my flashes, brought them to the center of the dance floor, and we ended up with this:
